DNR

A lovely comment I received from Cheryl on a previous post prompted me to come back from my blogging hiatus and write this.

Wow, it’s been more than a month since I last ran and I can’t tell you how much I’m having a DNR: a Desperate Need to Run.

Since my running partner flew abroad for work, I can’t bring myself to go to UP and run. One, I feel uneasy going there and running alone. Two, and this is the main reason, I can’t run without missing him more because we always run together. I miss him enough as it is, running will just make it worse.

So now my lovely running shoes are just sitting there under the stairs waiting to hit the road again. Meanwhile, after more than a month of inactivity, I’m feeling sluggish and the waist has expanded a bit. Okay maybe, more than a bit. My jeans are feeling a bit tight again and I know that means I need to get back into the running groove soon.

The good news is my running hubby is coming home in four days. Woohoo! I told him we should start running again the morning after he arrives. Besides, we only have a little more than a month to train for the Camsur Marathon in September. I’m actually just running a 3k though. He’s running 21k so he needs to train harder than I do.

I’m so excited to hit the road and get fit again. And when that happens, this blog is gonna run, run and run with posts and photos. More stories soon! :)

DNF

Running

It was the first day of the week and I was excited to run. I was bent on doing another 8k. It was Kernan’s rest day so he was just going to accompany me to UP. Just as we were preparing to leave, our eldest daughter Jamaine stirred from the bed and opened her eyes. [...]

The longest 3k race of my life

Races

And so the results of the Rock and Run 2010 race finally came out. It was indeed the longest 3k race I’ve had so far. I finished in 35 minutes! I was 263 out of 390 3k runners. Hubby also finished later than his usual time but just a little bit. He was 463 out [...]

Rock and Run? Not!

Races

It’s half – past one a.m. I am up and I am sick. All because I chose to run through the rain at the Rock and Run race last June 19. Now, I wasn’t forced to run. It was my choice to brave the rains. I’d still say it was an adventure. But I’m pretty [...]

Break in day

Running

I was so excited to wear my pink running shoes. They felt good when I was walking during the fitting, I wondered how they would feel on my feet when I’m actually running on hard pavement.

It all started with a Facebook message: It was love at first sight. I knew it was exactly what I wanted. But I wasn’t too keen on spending more than 5k for a pair of running shoes. So I told him, let’s just wait for a sale. Besides, my rubber shoes were still intact. Sure, [...]

I ran for two consecutive mornings after the Nature Valley Run. I wanted to work out and maybe, I wanted to make up for the race I didn’t run. I even put on hubby’s oversized Nature Valley shirt just for good measure. With my knee pain completely gone, I made sure to stretch, stretch and [...]

One thing I learned from the Nature Valley Run: always believe in yourself and never pass up a challenge. Sadly, I didn’t do that months ago when the registration was still open. So I was back to being a spectator slash uber fan for hubby during the second leg of the RunRio trilogy. But I [...]

The skies were cloudy and threatened rain but that wasn’t going to stop me. I’ve been resting for three days to heal my knee pain and I wanted to run. My legs wanted to run. Badly. This time, my only goal was to log some running time. I didn’t need to run straight. I will [...]

How to prevent chafing while running

I felt the burning sensation under my arm just as I crossed the finish line during the San Miguel Bay Run. I stripped the Ipod strap from my arm and saw this: I got chafed.
